As we close out 2024, we couldn’t be prouder of the journey we’ve undertaken. This year has been a big one for Vantage, evolving from an ambitious concept into a fully-fledged product. With our public launch just around the corner in early 2025, we’re more excited than ever for what’s to come.

Our beta testing program has been a huge success, with over 100 sailors now actively using the app. It’s been particularly exciting to see Vantage making waves ahead of the Moth Worlds, where some of the world’s top sailors are now using the app daily. The feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive, driving continuous improvements and refinements.

What’s New in Vantage 1.1.3 (Coming Next Week)

  • Enhanced Leg Analysis: Users can now view simplified performance summaries for each leg, with standout metrics highlighted for easy comparison. Additionally, you can analyze individual lineups within a leg, breaking down performance into finer details. This feature is particularly valuable for tuning runs.

  • Introducing the Vantage Performance Score (VPS): The VPS is now displayed on a 0-100 scale, reflecting general class performance. Upwind and downwind VMG account for 70% of the score, while maneuver performance contributes the remaining 30%. For newer classes, scores may take time to become fully representative as more data is collected.

  • Bug Fixes:

    • Resolved an issue where activities from VKX files displayed incorrect timestamps.

    • Fixed a bug where multiple connection requests displayed the same user multiple times.

Looking ahead, we’ll continue refining existing features and introducing more tutorials to help users maximize the app’s potential. We’re also excited to share more about the upcoming laptop version of Vantage, with a planned launch this spring. This version will include advanced video telemetry features for improved debriefs.

Did You Know?

Vantage leverages cutting-edge algorithms to automatically calculate general wind direction and detect shifts throughout a session. This approach delivers what we believe to be the most accurate inferred VMG and wind data available—without the need for a wind sensor.

However, in some cases, the general wind direction may be slightly off. If needed, you can easily correct this by navigating to Activity Settings or clicking on the True Wind value on your activity page. Once adjusted, Vantage will reprocess your activity with the updated wind direction.

Good Luck to All Moth Sailors!

As the Moth World Championships kick off tomorrow, we’d like to wish all participants the very best of luck. With strong winds in the forecast, we’re anticipating some new top speeds on the leaderboards. During the pre-worlds, several sailors hit 35+ kts! Sail fast and stay safe!

All the best,

Nicolai & Henrik
